Words you will keep seeing on these pages
- Pattu overcoat
- The pattu overcoat is the long Kashmiri winter coat worn from November to March, cut wide enough to sit over a sweater and dropping past the knee. Ours is 620 GSM undyed pattu, handspun and woven on a pit loom in Kupwara, then tailored in Srinagar with a full cupro lining.
- GSM
- Grams per square metre, the weight of the cloth. The poplin shirt is 120 GSM, the tee 200, the chinos 280 and the tweed 480; the higher the number, the heavier and warmer the cloth. Denim and waxed cotton are quoted in ounces instead, and 13.5 oz denim is about 458 GSM.
- Pattu
- Pattu is undyed sheep wool spun and woven on hand looms in the valley, left the colour it came off the animal. It is dense rather than soft, which is what makes a pattu overcoat warm without any padding.
- Kashmiri tweed
- Tweed woven on hand looms around Anantnag: a heavier, slubbier cloth than a mill tweed, with the fleck coming from wool dyed before it is spun rather than from a printed surface.
- Selvedge denim
- Denim woven on a narrow shuttle loom, so each edge of the cloth closes itself and needs no overlocking. Ours is 13.5 oz raw indigo, unwashed, and will drop about half an inch in the leg after the first soak.
Delivery, returns and payment in one paragraph
Dispatch is within 24 hours from Srinagar. Shipping is free over ₹1,499 and a flat ₹79 below it, with express at ₹199. Returns run for 7 days on unworn pieces with the tags on, and 10 days on winter wear bought before the first snow. UPI, cards, net banking and cash on delivery are all accepted; prices include GST. How long does a AimsCraft order take to arrive?
Orders confirmed before 4pm IST leave our Srinagar packing room the same working day; everything else goes within 24 hours. Indian metro addresses usually receive in two to three days and the rest of the country in three to five. International parcels are quoted at checkout and take seven to twelve working days.
When is shipping free, and what does it cost otherwise?
Shipping is free on any Indian order of ₹1,499 or more. Below that it is a flat ₹79, or ₹199 for express courier. Collection from the Boulevard Road counter in Srinagar is always free. International rates depend on weight and destination and are shown in full before you pay.
Can I return something that does not fit?
Yes, within seven days, as long as the piece is unworn and the tags are still attached. Send it back for a different size or a refund; we pay the return courier on a size exchange. Pieces we have already altered, and anything cut to measure, are outside the return window — which is why we check your measurements before the scissors go near the cloth.
Which size should I order, and do you alter?
Every listing carries flat measurements in inches — chest, shoulder, sleeve and length — so measure a shirt you already wear and match it rather than going by the letter. Trousers leave the shop with a 40-inch inside leg. Hems and sleeves are altered free at the Srinagar shop, and for ₹250 by post: send the piece back and we return it inside four working days.
Do you ship winter wear outside India?
Yes. Winter wear travels worldwide by insured courier with signature on delivery. Import duty and local taxes are payable by the recipient. A hand-loomed overcoat is inspected stitch by stitch before it is boxed, which adds about five working days before the courier is booked, and wool is declared as wool on the customs form.
Which payment methods can I use, and are prices GST-inclusive?
UPI, Visa, Mastercard, RuPay and American Express, net banking, and cash on delivery on Indian orders under ₹20,000. Cash on delivery adds a ₹49 handling fee. Every price on this page already includes GST at the applicable rate, so the figure on the product card is the figure you pay.
